Feel Everything

Hello!

Hi there— I’m Chelsea Domanico, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C) with a deep passion for supporting others through their mental health journey.

Feel Everything Counseling came to be after many years of observing a pattern in my clients seeking to feel less—less sad, less anxious, less hurt, less angry, less scared...

While these are generally uncomfortable feelings, the way to truly confront and manage them is to essentially feel more. Allowing ourselves to feel our emotions—rather than suppress, avoid, or ignore them—is the only way for us to work through them. Life is meant to be felt; emotions enhance and enrich our lives, both the comfortable and uncomfortable ones. In allowing ourselves to feel everything, we invite the opportunity to experience life more profoundly and authentically.

As a deeply feeling person, I understand the difficulty of having our emotions take over. My work with clients often revolves around processing, understanding, accepting, and making space for our experiences. We work to decrease the intensity and understand how to manage and cope with ones’ emotional range. We often focus on increasing awareness and mindfulness to deepen an understanding of ones’ emotional experience, and in turn, better regulate their emotional response. Mental illness manifests in many different ways; We work to develop tools and skills needed to manage and alleviate symptoms, while figuring out interventions to meet each individual’s specific needs.

Feel Everything Counseling also came to be after observing and experiencing the intense stigma around mental illness. We are often taught to keep our emotional experiences private and to feel shame around mental health struggles. This stigma further supports the notion to suppress and ignore our emotions, only worsening symptoms for the individual. Everyone experiences difficulty with their mental health at some point in their lives-we should encourage openness around mental health and support one another in each of our journey’s to mental wellness.

Outside of providing therapeutic support for my clients, it is my mission to combat the stigmatization of mental health. I strive to normalize discussions about mental health and its treatment in the same manner we talk about physical ailments, without hesitation or fear of judgment. I am dedicated to the advocacy for prioritizing mental health in each individual’s life, as well as society at large. Join me on this journey of prioritizing mental health in each of our own lives, our loved ones lives, and the lives of those in our community.

My Mission: Fighting the stigma surrounding mental health, one conversation at a time.

About

Chelsea

A little about my career: I received a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and went on to receive a Masters of Social Work at Loyola University Chicago. I have been working in the field for over 10 years, providing clinical support to a variety of different populations with a range of presenting concerns. I started my career working with youth who were involved in the criminal justice system. I then narrowed this focus down and was serving youth who engaged in problem sexual behavior, providing individual therapy, family therapy, and running groups. I was working very closely with the parents of my client’s, and found a passion in supporting individuals in their parenting journey. I now focus on supporting parents throughout all stages-preconception, pregnancy, postpartum, difficulty with toddlers, adolescents, etc. Parenting is hard, and you deserve support too.

A little about me: I grew up in and now reside in WI, but lived in Chicago for many years before moving back. My proudest titles are therapist, social worker, and mama. I am a mom to 4 wonderful, wild children ages 5, 4, 2, and 3 months. My home is filled with a little bit of chaos and a whole lot of love! Not only have I studied, trained, and received certifications in working with perinatal mental health, I have the lived experience as well— I have been in the trenches of motherhood and am still very much in the thick of it, so I get it and I am right there with you.

I love getting outside with my kids and exploring everything nature has to offer. I enjoy gardening, cooking, DIY projects, and snuggles with my pups and kids. We love to cheer on our WI and Chicago sports teams, with some lighthearted family rivalries :)

When building my practice, a core foundation was creating a nonjudgmental, inclusive, and affirming space where all are welcome and celebrated. I work to embrace and honor the unique experiences, identities, and perspectives of each client, fostering an environment where individuals feel supported, challenged, and safe. It is my promise to my clients to continue my own education and growth as a clinician, in order to always provide the best quality of care to each individual I serve.
